About US

My name is Amy DuVall. I've been an environmental lawyer for more than twenty years and was an environmental lobbyist for ten. And I studied environmental engineering before all of that. I had a dream of helping to enact major federal environmental legislation, and in 2016 I was lucky enough to be given that chance.

Feeling professionally fulfilled and ready for the next chapter, I decided to focus on my creative side and try to turn my hobby of cooking and baking into my next profession. I began my journey to bake more and learn as much as I could about pastry. Along the way, I worked to perfect the Italian cookies that were favorites of my husband’s Italian family and our Italian adventures — delicious bakes that we sadly could not find in Northern Virginia.

In January 2019, I created from politics to pastry LLC. We focus on traditional Italian sweets, custom pastries and breads, and in-home/virtual baking and pasta instruction/parties for individuals, groups, and corporate events. Everything is made from scratch, in small batches, and with lots of love! We want to help make your life sweeter and put a smile on your face: one cookie, one scone, one roll, one slice of cake at a time.

from politics to pastry LLC is a fully licensed and insured home-based bakery in Alexandria, Virginia, operating under Virginia cottage food laws. We are a tiny but mighty company of one, serving the greater Washington, DC area. All of our items are processed and prepared without state inspection and are not available for resale or shipping. For our food orders only (not for our classes, which do not incur sales tax), Virginia sales tax of 1% is already included in all advertised pricing.
